Signature, Neptune "Superia"

I've carved three Blowfish pipes recently, one is spoken for and the Neptune turned out to be best of the bunch by far...best Blowfish pipe I've ever carved :-)

I used Italian Plateaux and the pipe is light and very well balanced. Both sides of the bowl are covered in tight birds eyes and the rest in cros grain, the effect is just stunning.

Stem is hand carved from Cumberland and fitted with solid Sterling silver band. I finished the pipe in Walnut to match the color of the stem.

It is one of the pipes I do not want to part with in a hurry, and there will be one very happy pipesmoker enjoying Neptune for many, many years, and that alone brings my lots of satisfaction, knowing that someone somewhere will get pleasure from my work...

I recently purchased this pipe from Jan, making it the 10th one I own of his, but this piece is the most extraordinary of all. The birdseye on both sides of the bowl is superb. The Neptune far surpasses the Bo Nordh Snail I once owned, both in smoking quality and craftsmanship. I am delighted to have it in my collection.

Dear Jan

Rather casually I've visited your website. Astonishing to me what I could see. My compliments. Luckily I shall come over to NZ next Feb/March. So a visit to Nelson (within the wonderful Marlborough Sounds) is already a MUST. I am delighted in having this opportunity to get to know you personally. It seems that I've already been captured by one or two favourites (Neptune Superia and Zara), but we will see.
Good luck and best wishes, kindest regards, yours

Walter Schäppi
